Is there any way to run MapR under SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES11) using the RedHat RPMs?

We test on Ubuntu (9.04+), CentOS 5.x/6.x and RHEL. I would recommend running on one of those supported platforms.

I realize that, but unfortunately my organization is running all SLES servers with support contracts. We're currently using the Cloudera distribution. We're very interested in MapR's direct I/O, NFS mounting, and HA.

Has anyone tried running MapR on SLES? I understand it's unsupported. In particular, I'm wondering how closely MapR is tied to RHEL. It shouldn't be hard to get running if it's only the repository and init scripts, for example.

Andrew, please provide your contact info to support@mapr.com and someone can work with you directly to see what it takes to run on SUSE. Apart from the installation stuff, it should be easy to put it on there.
