Cloudera allows you to set your JAVA_HOME in the main startup-script which allows you have both Sun Java and Open_JDK on your hdfs cluster. Can you do this with MapR?

Although we don't recommend Open JDK, as we did not test with it, you can set JAVA_HOME per node (either Open JDK or Sun Java). During running of MapR configuration step it will complain (warn) about Open JDK (for the reason listed above), but if you really want to proceed with Open JDK you can do it.

We have not tested with the Open JDK. We recommend the Sun JDK.
