The concept of viewfs is to allow access to multiple clusters with having to embed host names and ports into applications.

MapR has always had this capability so viewfs isn't necessary with MapR clusters.

Depending on how well viewfs is implemented when it finally becomes available it is likely that you will be able to specify maprfs paths in the mount table in any cluster that supports both viewfs and maprfs. That doesn't usually make a lot of sense, but you can probably do it.
